JA Stock Market Challenge WNY

Through JA Take Stock in Your Future, students discover the benefits and challenges of investing in the stock market as part of a broader, long-term investment strategy and the risks and rewards of trading. (grades 9-12) The program includes five 45- minute sessions, with additional extended learning activities and optional digital assets offered throughout, including an optional online or site-based JA Stock Market Challenge competition.

Time: 9:30 AM ET
 
High school students from all over Western New York will have the opportunity to participate in a stock market challenge simulation for 10 days as part of their JA Take Stock in Your Future® program.

The purpose of the JA Stock Market Challenge is to give students a better understanding of trading strategies and portfolio management. Students will also learn how to use a variety of financial instruments and their risks and rewards as they apply to asset management.

Students will work as a team, or individually, and make their own trades during an online stock market challenge using fictitious money based on a new platform made exclusively for Junior Achievement students.

FALL 2023 CHALLENGE:
A virtual challenge taking place November 15–30.

SPRING 2024 CHALLENGE:
A virtual challenge taking place March 11–22.

IN-PERSON CHAMPIONSHIP:
New this year! Top competitors from our virtual competitions will be invited to attend an in-person championship on April 16, 2024. Details to follow.

Volunteers are needed to support in-classroom curriculum.
